الَّذِينَ
يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْغَيْبِ وَيُقِيمُونَ الصَّلَاةَ وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَاهُمْ
يُنفِقُونَ
Alladhīna yu’minūna bil-ghaybi wa
yuqīmūnaṣ-ṣalāta wa mimmā razaqnāhum yunfiqūn
Translation:
"Who believe in the unseen,
establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them."
Tafseer
(Explanation):
This verse describes the qualities
of the righteous (al-muttaqoon)—those who will benefit from the guidance of
the Qur'an, as mentioned in the verse just before (Surah Al-Baqarah: 2).
1.
"يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْغَيْبِ" – Believe in
the Unseen
- Ghayb
refers to everything beyond human perception—such as belief in Allah, the
angels, the Day of Judgment, Paradise and Hell, divine destiny, and all
that has not been witnessed.
- True faith begins with trusting what Allah has
revealed, even if it cannot be seen or empirically proven.
2.
"وَيُقِيمُونَ الصَّلَاةَ" – Establish
Prayer
- Not just performing prayer, but establishing it,
which implies:
- Performing it regularly and properly,
- With sincerity and humility,
- Following all its rules and spiritual aspects.
- Prayer is the first and most visible act of worship,
and a sign of one's submission to Allah.
3.
"وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَاهُمْ يُنفِقُونَ"
– Spend from what We have provided
- They spend from their sustenance (wealth,
knowledge, time, etc.) in ways pleasing to Allah.
- It includes:
- Charity to the poor (sadaqah),
- Obligatory almsgiving (zakat),
- Supporting good causes.
- This shows a balance between spiritual devotion (salah)
and social responsibility (spending).
Reflection
This verse paints a picture of a believer:
someone who believes with conviction, worships with consistency,
and gives generously. These three qualities—faith, prayer, and
charity—form the foundation of a righteous Muslim’s life.
